Team Hāpara had an amazing time at ISTELive 24 in Denver, Colorado. We were lucky to see Hāpara educators and administrators in person and connect with schools and districts who are new to Hāpara. We appreciate everyone who stopped by the booth and talked to us about digital citizenship, browser monitoring, content filtering and, of course, Hipi. Maybe we’ll see you at ISTELive 25 in San Antonio? In the meantime, check out what we learned from ISTELive 24.
Educators and administrators want to use “technology for good”
The educators and administrators we met at ISTELive agree with Hāpara’s approach to classroom management. What is our approach? We don’t believe in policing learners — instead, we want educators to use our tools to teach learners to be good digital citizens. We believe in making browser monitoring a learning experience rather than a punishment. Use technology for good!
Everyone loves Hipi
Some at ISTELive asked us in a state of awe, “What is that unicorn thing?” If you haven’t seen a sheepicorn in the wild before, it’s a magical event. Hipi the sheepicorn and their flock went on all kinds of adventures in the Colorado Convention Center this year, meeting many inspiring educators. Some of the sheepicorns were even lucky enough to be adopted to new homes. (Just be sure to feed them marshmallows to make them extra happy!)

Our Hipi stickers were a big hit at the booth! Who wouldn’t want to display an adorable sheepicorn on their laptop or in their classroom? ISTELive attendees especially loved our special Colorado Hipi sticker.
Educators were excited to be at ISTE
What inspired us the most was seeing educators get so excited about teaching and learning. It also made us smile to see educators kick back and have fun after a busy school year. In edtech, ISTELive is the most wonderful time of the year!
AI was THE topic of conversation
AI was the talk of the town, or the conference, this year. Of course, we’re no strangers to AI. The web filter we offer uses powerful AI to filter content in real time. We also got to see our friend and resident “AI in education” expert Lindy Hockenbary. Check out her blog post using AI to personalize learning and her webinar about empowering students to use AI safely.
We saw the Malaiakalani team from New Zealand
One of our favorite ISTELive moments was seeing educators and principals from the Manaiakalani school cluster in New Zealand. They were the very first schools to use Hāpara, collaborating to help us create Teacher Dashboard. It was so exciting to see them in person in Colorado!
We also saw customers from all over the U.S.
In addition to the Manaiakalani team, we were lucky to spend time with administrators and educators from many parts of the U.S. We saw customers from places like Nebraska, D.C., Hawaii and more. Thank you for partnering with us to keep learners safe and focused!
